Buying a home gives you more opportunity to pick a place that fits your taste, as well as to make changes as you wish. When renting, you are beholden to a landlord. When owning, you are not. There are a few different degrees of flexibility when buying a finished home. One, if you buy the home or condo as it’s being built, you can usually select the furnishings to fit your taste. If you’re buying a condo, meanwhile, your options will be restricted by the condo association’s bylaws, which can include strict limitations on everything from the color to the kind of pets you can have. Buying a finished home, however, is never as flexible as building a house yourself.
