1. Tico Housing
Coldwell Banker’s Quesada says there is a lack of housing for Ticos moving in from the Central Valley to work in management in the high-end tourism resorts. These employees often have to bring their whole families, but are priced out of the existing market, which targets the wealthier buyers.
2. Retail
New shops are popping up everywhere, but there are still plenty of retail needs not being met. For example, furniture and appliance stores are lacking, one of the reasons many condominium developers sell their units furnished.
3. Accountants
More U.S. retirees means more people scrambling to file their taxes by the deadline, and perhaps more demand for competent tax professionals.
4. Development
Despite all the property development already going on, there’s always room for more. By this stage in the game, however, only the quality product will survive, as the market matures and buyers get more savvy at sorting the good from the bad.
