The Central Valley is the biggest rental market in the country because it serves the majority of the population. Prices are all over the board, and there is huge variety in most of the areas covered in this section.
Most foreigners rent in the Escazú area, but there are plenty of (cheaper) options elsewhere. If you are renting to see if you like the Central Valley, the Escazú area might be a good place to start. Public transportation reaches most parts of the Central Valley.
Rental prices can vary from $150 per month to over $2,000. Don’t expect much for $150, but demand a fully-furnished, large, and lovely house for over $2,000. (See Chapter 5, Rent, Buy or Build)
